Seaclash
Art Now – Toronto Outdoor Art Exhibition

‘Seaclash’ was a site specific installation created for the Art Now program of the Toronto Outdoor Art Exhibition 2013. Working from the program’s mandate of ‘art relief’, the piece incorporated found sound (recorded along the shore of Gibraltar Beach at Toronto Island) and found objects (salvaged speakers) in the form of a movable cart.

Drawing on Toronto’s West Indian influences (Jamaican soundclash soundsystems) and the geographic proximity to a veritable inland sea (Lake Ontario), ‘Seaclash’ moved throughout the din and hardscape of Nathan Phillips Square over the course of a weekend, providing a degree of relief to those within earshot.
